Sunscreen or No Sunscreen?

It’s hard to find unbiased info while doing a deep dive but I think most sunscreens on the market are more carcinogenic than the UV exposed you’d get from not wearing it. Oxy- anything is questionable, and I decided to just completely avoid it. I used to surf in Oahu Hawaii and we’d use nontoxic zinc paste. Safe for the reef and safe for skin. It looks clownish though, so companies can’t make a big buck off of it. Now I’m a mom and I just cover my kiddos with hats and long swim clothes instead of putting the fragrance chemicals and other sketchy things onto them!

My family stopped using sunscreen 2 years ago. When in the sun, we wear hats no sunglasses. We are out in the sun for spurts at a time, then rake breaks in the shade. No burning at all. Every other year we burned no matter how much I lathered on all of us. Im done with it. Look up the year and stats on rise of skin cancer and the trend. Then look up what year people started using sunscreen. Insane.

My mom grew up on the coast in Europe and she said the locals never went sun bathing between the hours of 11-4. I follow that same rule!
